International Princess Project – Part 2 (and 3)

It’s been a while, but I have a few more posts coming in the next few days!

A few weeks ago, I did the second part of a two-part shoot with International Princess Project for PUNJAMIES. Well, we thought that, but it ended up being Part 2 of 3. Part 3 of 3, which included a couple new items, happened on Sunday. (It was a small shoot almost exactly the same as the first two, so I won’t be blogging separately about it.)

The Studio

For Part 2 we were able to shoot at Twenty Miles East Studio in Pomona. It was great to be in an actual studio, as opposed to a large room using a seamless paper backdrop.  We had 5 models for the day and each girl modeled about five to six outfits.  Thankfully, I learned a lot from the last shoot and we were able to shoot a whole lot more photos in a lot less time.

After using a studio space I always feel bad for the “mess” we leave. This floor was perfectly white when we got there, haha!

Studio Floor (when we were done, it used to be pure white...)

Tech Specs:
Same as last time, 125th, 100iso and f/8 with the Profoto giant parabolic reflector at f/11 (using a Profoto D1 1000watt).  Afterwards I did kind of realize that I’ve been in a strange “overexpose everything” mode for some reason, and made sure I was doing that for the right reasons in my next shoots;  not just because  “that’s what I’ve been doing for a while now”. I’m not sure if catalog photos should actually be shot AT exposure now that I think more about it. It would be the most true-to-life way to capture the clothing (since it’s not really that bright in real life), but since that’s how I shot everything else so far, I wanted to keep everything uniform between these catalog shoots. I’ll try the “at exposure” route next time slash ask the creative director.

Overall it was another success and both IPP and I were very pleased with the results.  Most of the items from the three shoots are now on the online store so check them out! A few more special surprise new items will be out later :D

After the PUNJAMMIES shoot, one of the models, Miho, stayed around and we had an amazing fashion shoot afterwards. That will be the subject of my next blog post!

Unpublished outtake that I thought was rather cute
