| A "sort of outtake" that we loved |
I literally had told her to “bring everything” in terms of clothing as this was really a “test” shoot. (A test shoot is one that is for the benefit of the model and/or the photographer’s portfolio, but not specifically intended to be used for commercial purposes.) We didn’t have a designer or stylist with us, so we had to make due ourselves. Both she and I picked out her outfits So it was really a team-effort from the start.
Sometimes fancy and complicated light setups can be a blast. I have 4 Profoto D1s at my disposal and sometimes bust them all out (which is the case for an upcoming post!). Today I decided to keep things very simple. All of the setups use only one light!
Tech details
As I mentioned in my last post I have been in a kind of “overexpose by 1 stop” mode at the moment, so I did the same thing here. For the black and white photo I pushed the exposure a tad bit more in post. I ended up using each of these: Profoto 65 deg beauty dish, 25 deg grid on the beauty dish, Profoto zoom reflector with a 5 deg grid, and Profoto zoom reflector with a 20 deg grid. I’ll point out which were with on the final photos.
Also, I went with a constant light setup in a few of the looks to be able to shoot a f/2 (on the primes)- f/2.8(on the zoom lens). I love shooting wide open when its possible and its a lot "easier" or "forgiving" on the model's skin than the razor sharp detail you get at f/8.
